Proof that British cops are 500% kinder than American cops

In America, this guy, who obviously stumbled into the wrong house when he was blacked out drunk and proceeded to pass out cold on a stranger’s floor, would have woken up to a knee being dropped on his back and probably a taser to help him wake up – had this been a scene from a house in the US.
He almost certainly would have been taken to jail too, and charged with trespassing and maybe breaking and entering or reckless endangerment. In England, he was helped to his feet and offered a ride home.
No, I don’t believe this behavior should be condoned, but it is refreshing to see police officers in some countries show a bit of compassion and react in a way that is somewhat constructive, instead of just being violent because they have an excuse to.

Hear The Flaming Lips "Two Blobs F*#king" on One Page
The Flaming Lips have a cool new YouTube video project.
Picking up where they left off with 1997's odd experimental album Zaireeka, which came on four CDs intended to be played at once, the Okies have a new song called "Two Blobs Fucking," which comes divided onto 12 YouTube videos intended to be played at ounce by a dozen people hanging out together.
I have Zaireeka but I had to hack it by duplicating the discs onto audio cassettes -- this was way before CD plays cost $18 at Big Lots -- since they're definitely weren't three other kids into that sort of weird indie rock at my high school. Now, let's hack this one, too.
Below you'll find all 12 tracks embedded on the same page. If you're quick enough with your fingers you should be able to get them synced up pretty closely. If not, have one or two friends/co-workers join in by taking three or four each.

William Shatner and Lin Yu Chun Sing Duet, Internet Explodes

William Shatner and Taiwanese singer Lin Yu Chun performed a duet of Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” on last night’s episode of Lopez Tonight. Consequently, the world of viral Internet memes promptly folded itself into one big tesseracted fourth dimension where we’re all slaves to cats wielding keyboards and “David After the Dentist” is the official language.
Lin Yu Chun shot to Internet famedom a few weeks ago after his stirring rendition of “I Will Always Love You” during his audition for the Taiwanese, American Idol-esque talent show Super Star Avenue. He’s been called “The Next Susan Boyle,” and garnered his share of accolades for his surprisingly sweet chords.
Shatner — aside from being William Freaking Shatner — is also set to star in the TV adaptation of Sh*t My Dad Says.
Together, the two online heroes create, um, beautiful music?

20 Outrageous Tribute Bands
Love them or hate them, tribute bands aren't going anywhere soon. In fact, they seem to be multiplying, as if Guitar Hero and karaoke machines weren't enough to stymie their spread. Here are 20 musical acts that pay homage to another band (or sometimes two bands!) with their punning names and goofy gimmicks. If they don't make you smile, they may make you cringe.
Maybe Winehouse (Amy Winehouse)
Some tribute bands spring up after a much-loved artist's death, and some spring up when the much-loved artist merely habitually cancels shows. This London band's hook is that it's more reliable than the original. So if you don't have the jumping offstage and punching fans, the crack smoking, crying and anorexia, it's only Maybe Winehouse.

Buddhist Priest (Judas Priest)
Here's a lesson in using Westerners' Asiatic exoticism against them. The name "Buddhist Priest" is actually a bad joke your dad would make, but the Hawaiian metal tribute band's Eastern references pacify any violent reaction you would justifiably have. You know you love your yoga, orientalist.
There's the great jazz tradition of taking other musicians' songs and making them your own, and then there's the tribute band tradition of playing someone else's songs in an entirely unrelated genre. You know, 'You Shook Me All Night Long' played with a mouth harp and a mandolin by genuine hillbillies from Tennessee. They love it in England.

Looks like things haven't changed too much in Portland, Ore., seeing that little city is producing bands like this, "Portland's only all-male Go-Go's tribute band." With a name like that and a concept to back it up, these guys redefine sticking it to The Man. In skirts!

We doubt that these UK performers do a better version of 'You Oughta Know' than what you'd find at an 11-year-old girls' sleepover, but until someone makes time travel affordable, we'll have our nostalgia served lukewarm with a name to match.
There may not be anything more not punk-rock than a punk tribute band. Except if it's a punk tribute band from London doing Abba à la the Ramones. Those shows must really be terrifying: Ginger ale everywhere, the floor strewn with Cheez Puffs, Grandma and all her friends getting their constitutionals on the dance floor ...

We can't help but wonder about an active band's relationship to its ardent imitators. In the case of the mysterious aRe wE theM?, we can only imagine Michael Stipe puppeteering, à la 'Being John Malkovitch,' some college boys somewhere near Liverpool. Or making a quick phone call to have those pretenders eliminated.

Coverboy (Loverboy)
They bill themselves as "the most accurate tribute to Loverboy," and these lads from Largo, Fla., claim they started their band to seduce "Larry's sister," who listens only to bad covers of boy bands. Suddenly the intention of this whole subgenre of music becomes crystal clear.
Reasons why New York's all-female tribute to Led Zep is better than the original include breasts and not selling their souls to the devil to become great musicians. These gals have seemingly made their deal with a lesser imp, hence avoiding all those icky personal tragedies that have plagued the fellas.

While some might call Noel Gallagher's assessment of No Way Sis as the second best band in the world narcissistic, we call it generous. Had the Scottish Oasis lasted into this century, their lead singer might have gotten punched in the face, too, or at least lightly tapped on the shoulder.
If this band were to live up to their name, they'd rig a tube from a liposuction clinic that pumped the excess fat onto the stage, and they'd dollop it onto a catapult, topping each scoop with a gob of steaming mayonnaise, and they'd shoot those pungent blobs right into the crowd. Instead, they play Sabbath songs in Vancouver.

Beatallica (The Beatles and Metallica)
It's a wonder most tribute bands don't get sued. In 2005, when Milwaukee's finest Beatles/Metallica mash-up group received a cease-and-desist order from the owner of the Beatles' song catalog, Sony/ATV Music, it was none other than good guy Lars Ulrich who stepped in on Beatallica's behalf. All parties came to an agreement, so now Beatallibangers everywhere can enjoy songs like 'A Garage Dayz Nite' and 'All You Need Is Blood.'
You know, these blokes, who live closer to Jersey Classic than New Jersey, could've rhymed their name with anchovy. And done some kind of fish dance. Could've even made it a Phish/Bon Jovi mash-up with a name like that. Canned fish is bad for you because of the mercury -- could've even thrown in some Queen. Way to go, guys. Way to go.
Given the gay male population's pivotal role in the rise of Madonna, it's surprising these boys from San Francisco didn't get together sooner and make it official. Our only critique of this testosterone-heavy homage to the Material Girl is its lack of vogue-ing. Hello, ladies, that was Madonna covering you!
Oizone (Boyzone)
This British punk oufit performing versions of the Irish boy bands hits makes you wonder: What is punk music all about? It was Iggy Pop who said the Stooges were just taking what people wanted to hear and throwing it back in their faces. Either Boyzone has an oppressive following, or boy rhymes pretty easy with oi.
Wasn't 'Bat Out of Hell' already a tribute to the 'Rocky Horror Picture Show'?
And the gimmick of the decade goes to the Misfats of Portland, Ore.: They're overweight and they change all the words of the Misfits songs to be about food ('I Turned Into a Martian' becomes 'I Turned Into a Lard Ass'). They disbanded in 2008, but fun this big has to have a short shelf life.

The lead singer of this band lived in Seattle in the 1990s and heard about a band called the Foo Fighters. He grew out his beard and perfected his voice to sound exactly like Dave Grohl's, dressed like him and played all his songs. It's not a remake of 'Single White Female,' it's a Foo Fighters tribute band!

'Pants on the Ground' ripoff: Detroit's Green Brothers say they were first in 1996

The Green Brothers of Highland Park claim their song 'Back Pockets on the Floor' was copied by the famous 'American Idol' song 'Pants on the Ground.'As 62-year-old General Larry Platt and his "Pants on the Ground" video became the stuff of viral gold over the past two weeks, scores of people were probably sitting around kicking themselves for not thinking of it first.Not the Green Brothers.
According to Gerald Green, one half of a hip-hop group from Highland Park, they did think of it first -- and recorded it in 1996. And they want to make sure everyone knows it.
Gerald, who contacted Fox News Detroit about his dilemma, says their song "Back Pockets on the Floor" has the same intent, ideas and general message as Platt's.
Which doesn't seem like such a big deal -- plenty of people complain about how young people dress.
But if you listen to the "original" version, you notice some very similar wording and even similar rhythm in the delivery.

This is in regaurds to the General Larry Platt "Pants on The Ground". His song is a take off of the Green Brothers song " Back Pockets On The Floor'. Back Pockets On The Floor was written by G. Green andwas copyrighted and recorded by the Green Brothers in 1996. The General's song have the same intent, idea and in part the same message. YOU BE THE JUDGE AMERICA!!

Lady GaGa Remixed by Latest YouTube Sensations
Enter Yale students Sam Tsui and Kurt Hugo Schneider, a singer/guitar player duo who’ve done the almost impossible: achieved repeat viral hits on YouTube.
The allure of YouTube (
) is the potential for instant recognition and the promise of web fame with a viral hit. It’s a story we’ve heard a thousand times before, but few can ever claim repeat viral video hits.
Nevertheless, the talented Yale team has produced a medley of unique covers based on hit pop tracks that are racking up the view count on YouTube. Their latest viral sensation is “Lady GaGa Medley,” a perfect arrangement of the pop star’s radio hit “Poker Face” that’s already amassed more than 1.2 million views.
The YouTube veterans have also covered the Glee version of “Don’t Stop Believing.” That video alone has upwards of 3.5 million views. Then there’s the a cappella rendition of a hodgepodge of Michael Jackson songs, which is closing in on four million views fast.

“They are…college kids at Yale. And they are REALLY talented. Sam is the singer, Kurt plays guitar (and helpfully provides all the chords) and together they do some great stuff, in that simple format — or as an a cappella group, with Sam singing all the parts (!), or in their original (and ridiculously well-produced) web series, ‘College Musical.’ Yes. Really. They’re awesome.”Almost anything these guys touch turns to pure YouTube gold. Is it a stretch of the imagination to think these students could attract the attention of music producers or monetize their online machinations? Of course not, and we look forward to hearing more from the pair in the coming months.

Kids, Don't Try This At Home
Remember how much fun it was to play with bottles, turn them into fizzing, projecting rockets, all in a few seconds? Well, let this be a cautionary tale. This kid probably won't be trying to blast off any rockets any time soon. In fact, if he goes anywhere near a bottle in the next few weeks -- whether to drink or recycle or just smash the hell out of it -- we'd be impressed. It all happens in a few seconds here -- but those seconds look excruciatingly painful and, yes (sorry dude), pretty damn funny.

YouTube Will Be Next To Kiss IE6 Support Goodbye
Judging by this screenshot taken by an IE6 user who was watching some videos on YouTube
, it appears the Google company will be phasing out support for the browser shortly. I don’t have Internet Explorer 6 installed on my computer, so I can’t verify this first hand, but illogical it seems not and a simple Twitter search shows multiple people confirming the news. Heck, some are even downright ecstatic over the news.
The online video behemoth is pointing to ‘modern’ browsers like Google Chrome (twice on the same page even, unsurprisingly), Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 3.5 as alternatives.
With the impending move, YouTube follows in the footsteps of that other Web 2.0 poster child, Digg, which recently hinted at wanting to cut support for the browser too. Digg’s User Experience Architect Mark Trammell at the time wrote that the site is strongly considering removing essential features like digging and commenting for IE6 users. He explained that while IE6 users make up around 5% of site traffic, it only accounts for 1% of diggs, buries, and comments.
YouTube so far hasn’t officially communicated about the desire to drop support for IE6, but it’s conceivable that like Digg it would rather have its developers spend time optimizing the service for newer, better browsers than wasting man hours on the oft-despised Microsoft browser. We recently reported that Internet Explorer is losing market share to Firefox and Safari at a rapid pace.

Devised by the Irish as retaliation against English imperial rule, the first April Fool's Day prank on record occurred in 1770 when an Irish peasant persuaded his entire village to tithe the English in pence, making it impossible for the tax collectors to carry the load.* Since then, April Fool's Day has celebrated society's troublemakers -- the Alan Abels, the Harold T. Stones, and now the thousands of people who have uploaded their own pranks to YouTube for the world to enjoy. Luckily, you don't have to comb through them for inspiration -- we already did.
#5. The Maze Game Prank
It's happened to everyone -- you're in your office, minding your own business, when a co-worker approaches holding a video camera promising you that they've just forwarded you the best game. And now? You have to play it, while they videotape you. The next thing you know you're bleeding from the head. Foolish, indeed.
#4. Best Buy Improv
Remember the last time you were in Best Buy, overpaying for not exactly what you wanted because you were too impatient to buy it online? And then you got home and realized that that sales guy "Chad," who was positive you needed an SD card and not a flash card, sold you the wrong fucking card? And you spent the rest of the night thinking of some way to exact unholy, perfectly legal revenge? These guys did exactly that, dressing up as Best Buy employees, flooding the store, and causing complete chaos.
#3. The Fake Car Accident
Sometimes pranks play on people's innate phobias, such as crashing, burning and dying in a heap of twisted metal. This, combined with the element of surprise, creates the authenticity one looks for in a playful gag. Speaking of authenticity, nothing is more real than urinating one's pants after bachelor party. So much for dry humor.
#2. The Mailbox Gag
Seeing this, you could argue the entire Cold War was a well-executed practical joke that went right over America's head. But what else do you expect in a land where vodka costs less than water? This clip is Benny Hill meets Pulp Fiction. It's Mr. Bean starring in a snuff film. Wait for the ending and you'll see the kind of prank Nietzsche would pull if he wasn't so goddamned self-involved.
#1. The Mutated Rat Man
If the success of the prank is gauged by the reaction of the victim, then this hoax should be canonized in the annals of history. It should have its own Wikipedia page, and the searches "ratman," "perfect joke" and "frailty of the human soul" should all point to it. It should be dubbed in languages far and wide. For generations to come, when children reach the age of reason and ask their parents, "Why are we here?" moms and dads everywhere should sit their child down and show them this.

Kid's reaction after being drugged up at the dentist office
This is my 7 year old son who had an extra tooth removed last summer, 2008. I had the camera because he was so nervous before I wanted him to see before and after.
He was so out of it after, I had to carry him out of the office. The staff was laughing and I had tears it was so funny.
He is doing fine now and the teeth are great.
Best of all he is the best kid as his brother William. I couldnt have asked for two better sons!

NES Contra - Jungle Jam on the guitar.
