Lovingly made Star Wars fan films, they're growing on trees these days. The latest not-for-profit Star flick is the atmospheric Italian film, Dark Resurrection: Volume 0. In this film, a group of Jedis discover a derelict spaceship with a nasty secret. Don't worry, it's nothing like Turkish Star Wars.

Director Angelo Licata tipped us to his latest production, and we're certainly gosh-darned impressed. It's the prequel to his 2007 movie Dark Resurrection: Volume 1, which cost £7,000. Here's the synopsis:

Master Sorran, is obsessed by his search for an ancient civilization which, according to legend, holds the secret of immortality. After many years he lights upon the wreck of the civilisation's most powerful starship: the Resurrection.

Sorran ignores the dangers and orders his crew to dock. The explorers and Sorran himself will face the mysteries of the Resurrection and the secret of the origins of the dark side.

Volume 0, Volume 0, in the original script written by Angelo Licata and Fabrizio Rizzolo, was only the prologue of Volume 2. After months of post-production, we realised that the material deserved to be properly developed as it tells interesting stories about the past of evil Lord Sorran and the mythology of Eron; fulcrum of the entire story.

There's a lot of good stuff going on here, from the creepy, Gigeresque set design to the young Jedi fiddling with his lightsaber to that holographic Vigo the Carpathian barking a whole bunch of dire craziness. Hats off to Licata and his team for putting together a handsome homemade movie. You can read more about the Dark Resurrection films here.

Jedi Kittens

Is this the best thing to happen to Youtube since someone rediscovered Rick Astley? The videos are short, but really cute. It’s a pair of kittens with lightsabers, and so far they’ve done two. The first just has the kittens dueling each other, while the other has them flying an X-Wing and TIE Fighter around before hopping out and dueling.

The makers of the videos are hoping to get enough views of these little guys to make it to the Youtube front page, and for something this cool; they deserve to. So check out both current installments of Jedi Kittens below.

Marvel's Little 'Thor' Commercial

The company spoofs VW's popular Super Bowl commercial to plug latest feature film.

Marvel is looking to duplicate the success of Volkswagen's Darth Vader Super Bowl ad with a commercial of its own.

Follow little Thor as he goes through the same scenes as Darth Vader. Also keep an eye out for Easter eggs like what is written on the dog's bowl, the doll on the bed and the license plate on the vehicle.

Family Guy: It’s a Trap announced

The final chapter of the Family Guy Star Wars Trilogy is finally coming out. “It’s a Trap” will be released on BluRay and DVD December 21st. The discs will include multiple special features including behind the scenes stuff and a feature on the Comic Con 2010 panel. It’s not known if it’ll be an edited version of the panel or the whole thing. Hopefully they include the entire panel as it’s a great way for people to see it who weren’t able to make it to Comic Con. You’ll be able to buy the disc separately or in a boxed set with “Blue Harvest” and “Something, Something Dark Side”.

The one and only Metallica has also provided tribute to the famous Star Wars theme with a heavy but awesome result.

Buckingham Palace

Here we see a shift change in Buckingham Palace with a great entertaining factor for Geeks.

Guitar

There were many variations of the Imperial March on guitars, but this one seemed to lead to the Dark Side.

Drums

In this remake, the drums are accompanying the theme, and the result is highly successful.

Trumpet

Another cool example that proves no matter what instrument you play, the Imperial March will always sound good.

Keyboard

Simple, elegant and definitely respectful of Star Wars.

iPhone Ocarina

In this example you can see the iPhone Ocarina being played using the fan’s nose, and it still ends up delivering the Imperial March well.

For our latest mission, we staged a reenactment of the first Princess Leia / Darth Vader scene from Star Wars on a New York City subway car. The white walls and sliding doors on the train reminded us of the rebel ship from the movie, and we thought it would be fun to see how people would react to a surprise appearance by the iconic characters. We spread out the actors along the train line, staging it so they would enter the right car at the right time. Enjoy the video first and then go behind-the-scenes with the photos and report below.
