LONDON — The world's first ice cream van for dogs will open for business at a "pet party" in London's Regent's Park on Saturday.

The van will serve canine-friendly flavors such as "Dog Eat Hog World" — a chicken and gammon sorbet — and "Canine Cookie Crunch," a more traditional vanilla ice cream, albeit sprinkled with dog biscuits.

"The weather has been so hot, we thought dogs deserved a cooling treat as much as anyone else," said Sally Bezant of event organizer Boomerang Pets Party.

She said a team of pet nutritionists had been through a complicated scientific process to determine the tastiest and safest flavors for the dogs' dessert.

And although the unusual flavors were tested on a panel of dogs, they can be eaten by humans.

"It's safe for humans ... I've tried it myself," she told Reuters, adding, perhaps diplomatically, that doggie ice-cream tasted "different."

Flying Pasties hide your privates from full body scanners

We've covered the issue of full body scanners in airports pretty extensively here at Gadling. More and more airports are implementing the security devices and more people are crying foul as they fear that their right to privacy is being disregarded. Now, a creative company has introduced a product to protect travelers' privacy, modesty and genitalia. Flying Pasties (some images potentially NSFW) are rubber pads that you place over your nether regions so that anyone reviewing your image on a full body scanner doesn't see anything that you wouldn't want to expose without first being taken out for dinner.

Flying Pasties aren't stickers or paper cut-outs. They're 2mm thick pieces of rubber that adhere to your skin to cover your breasts and genitalia. According to the manufacturer, when your image appears on the full body scanner monitors, areas of skin covered by the Flying Pasties will not be visible to the security agent.

The pasties come in sets for women including two breast pasties and one bottom and one bottom piece for males. They are emblazoned with text such as "Private" and "Only my husband sees me naked." The company does offer the option to customize the message your pasties.

Flying Pasties sets for women retail for $24.99, but the company is offering an introductory rate of $16.99. Male bottoms are $9.99 and a set for a man and woman is currently $19.99 instead of $29.99.

Would you wear rubber pasties to hide your naughty bits? Have you been exposed by a full body scanner? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Jimmy Johnson To Try His Hand At 'Survivor'

Former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson has chosen his next challenge: He'll appear as a contestant in "Survivor: Nicaragua" this fall, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Johnson, 67, will appear in the show's 21st season, currently filming in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, according to the report. The taping will not interfere with Johnson's duties as an NFL analyst for Fox.

"Survivor" is one of Johnson's favorite shows, according to the report, and he almost appeared in the season taped in Gabon in 2008, but he failed a physical. Johnson then lost weight to earn a spot as one of the show's oldest contestants.

Several former Cowboys already have tried their hands at reality TV. Two of Johnson's players from the 1990s, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin, have competed in "Dancing with the Stars." Former Cowboys quarterback Gary Hogeboom appeared in "Survivor: Guatemala" in 2005.

100-Year-Old Doctor Still Making Rounds

Georgia Gynecologist Delivered Generations of Babies

Augusta, Ga. resident Dr. Walter Watson is the oldest practicing physician in the country, and he has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. Steve Hartman continues the series, "Assignment America."

(CBS) Did you hear the one about the 100-year-old gynecologist? Dr. Walter Watson of Augusta, Georgia still sees a few patients every day. Then, he drives himself down the block to University Hospital where he still serves as chairman of his department.

In recent years, Dr. Watson has delegated most of his duties to other doctors, which is good, because I followed him around the hospital for an hour and never saw him directing much of anything.

The staff clearly loves him, and he loves them. But it's the patients who seem to most appreciate Dr. Watson and his tireless, unending devotion to medicine. Between 1944, when Dr. Watson delivered his first baby, and 1995 when he stopped doing obstetrics, Dr. Watson ushered in a small army of satisfied customers.

Today, they're known simply as the "Watson babies." They range in age from 15 to 66 and their ranks are innumerable.

So how many babies has Dr. Watson delivered?

"Somewhere between 15,000 and 18,000," Dr. Watson said.

That's nearly 10 percent of the entire Augusta population. Many families have 3 generations of Watson babies.

"We went to a basketball game one night and he looked at the program and said, 'I delivered every one of these kids,'" said his wife Audrey.

Audrey says her husband delivered so many babies he rarely saw his own family of five. But Audrey says Walter told her when they got married she'd always be third in his life - behind God and his patients.

Dr. Watson plans on being around for a little while longer. He's even started taking new patients - three in the past couple of months.

Mobile Game Lets iPhone and Android Users Do Battle

By Samuel Axon
from: http://mashable.com/

A popular iPhone dogfighting game called Skies of Glory has been ported to Android smartphones, and iOS and Android users can fight one another in real-time — a rare feature for mobile games.

In fact, it’s a rare feature on almost any platform. Most multiplatform gaming experiences have been online games like World of Warcraft that work on both Mac and Windows (Windows) computers, although there have been some exceptions — for example, Final Fantasy XI is playable on the PlayStation 2, PC and Xbox 360, and a few Xbox Live games can interact with their Windows counterparts. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers can’t play together on any existing game, however.

It’s good to know that Android () and iOS games can connect with one another given that the smartphone market will be split for some time. Skies of Glory isn’t the first such game, but it’s noteworthy because it’s one of the most popular iPhone games.

You can download it on the Android Market () for devices running Android 2.0 or greater today, or in the Apple App Store [iTunes link] for iOS devices.

Teen Trades up on Craigslist from Phone to Porsche in 2 Years

by JD Rucker

from: http://www.autointhenews.com/

Glendora teen image

In a world where many teens seem to lack both patience and common sense, one teen in Glendora, CA, demonstrated both masterfully.

Steven Ortiz, 17, used Craigslist to trade his way up from an old cell phone to a Porsche. It took him 2 years of bartering like mad, but it appears that the effort was worth it. He’s the only student at Charter Oak High School who drives a Porsche to school.

His path from old cell phone to Porsche included working his way up to an iPod, then a MacBook Pro laptop. Eventually, Ortiz traded up from electronics to dirt bikes, then cars and trucks, and an SUV.

“A lot of my friends are jealous,” Ortiz said. “A lot of my friends come up to me and tell me, ‘You want to trade my phone for a car? Try to get me a Ferrari.’ I tell them it’s not that easy. It takes time and patience, definitely.”

Ortiz’s skill at identifying a good deal started years ago when he would buy cell phones off of his friends. At $30 each, he would turn around and sell the used cell phones online for three times the amount he paid. He also picked up a knack for repairing electronics, which enabled him to take something that was almost worthless and get it functioning again.

Eventually, Ortiz discovered bartering. Many people online are looking for ways to exchange something they don’t need in order to get something they do need. These same people often realize that they can get more through bartering than through selling the item for cash.

“A lot of people don’t have money right now, in this economy. So they think, `I really need a new phone, but I don’t have the money. Here I have this CD player lying around that I don’t use anymore, maybe I can trade,”‘ Steven’s father Esteban explained.

Like many Americans, the Ortiz family has been hit hard by the economy. But with his uncanny ability to scour the Web for incredible deals, Steven Ortiz has still managed to get whatever he wants, despite facing economic hardship.

Vapor4 May Be the First Bumper Worthy of the iPhone 4

Vapor4 May Be the First Bumper Worthy of the iPhone 4

The iPhone 4 shatters easily, and its tiny plastic bezel offers no protection. On top of that, touching its metal rim causes interferences. The Vapor4 bumper—made of aluminum—may solve most of these design problems. And it looks great:

Of course, nothing looks as cool as the iPhone 4 on its own, but if you want to avoid the antenna problems and the shattering, you are going to need one of these. They are made of aluminum, and they have an interior liner that separates the metal from the antenna, insulating it. The manufacturer—the same who makes the beautiful Joule iPad stand—told me that their tests showed no interference whatsoever across all models of iPhone:

We basically wrapped it in an inch thick of anodized aluminum all around with our special secret liner inside, nothing impacted the reception.

We will have to test this, but it definitely is the first bumper that actually looks cool. Especially the way you put it together, with those hex screws.

Vapor4 May Be the First Bumper Worthy of the iPhone 4

The Vapor4 is not cheap, although not as expensive as the beautiful exotic wood back replacement: The Vapor4 is $80. For $100 you also get the V4Carbon, a carbon fiber back plate that will further protect the iPhone 4 fragile glass back. [Elementcase]
