R2D2 Upgrades to HDMI and Xbox 360

By
From http://walyou.com/

Major League Mods has just unleashed every Star Wars geek’s wet dream, for lack of a better description.

A life-size model of R2D2 bears a striking resemblance to the projector/dvd-player/sound system made by Nikko, as seen here. The difference is that Major League Mods appears to have spliced the internals of an Xbox 360 of all things, with a similar product. That’s right; you can now play Star Wars Battlefront III with R2 projecting on your wall.

R2D2 R2D2 Upgrades to HDMI and Xbox 360

It’s hard to believe, but no 360 ports appear to have been sacrificed in this George Lucas/Microsoft-effigy. The HDMI and RCA ports are in back along with power input, two USBs up front with the power button, and, of course, R2’s glowing eye is right where is should be.

R2 also lights up, but does not appear to move on its own. We’re not exactly sure if it makes sounds, but the well-known high-pitched chirps are definitely evident in the video. Check it out yourself below.

While we cannot confirm or deny the validity of this Mod, the splash screen of Xbox 360’s menu does appear on the wall in this video, and the ports do appear to be that of the Xbox as well. If you’d like to learn more, we suggest you contact Mark Bongo, the owner of Major League Mods and custom-modification guru who brought this gamer droid to life. You can also check out his Free eBooks to learn how to do this mod yourself. May the force be with you.

Leisure Suit Larry HD coming to iOS, Android in 2012

By:
From: http://www.intomobile.com/

Some of my most memorable gaming moments growing up were experiencing point-n-click adventures from publishers such as Sierra and LucasArts. One series that I absolutely loved was Sierra’s Leisure Suit Larry, although I may have been a little too young to understand all of the adult humor. Regardless, I still had a blast guiding Larry through his many adventures and it looks like I’ll finally get to understand what I played through as a kid as Replay Games has announced it’ll be bringing Leisure Suite Larry to iOS & Android next year.

The first game Replay Games will release will be an HD remastered version of their first title, Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards. The HD remastered version of the game will include the usual laundry list of improvements to the game’s graphics, sound, and controls, but Replay Games promises none of the game’s puzzles or sense of humor will be left out. If the HD remake sells well, Replay Games plans to release the rest of the Leisure Suit Larry series of games as well as completely original Larry games.

Seeing how popular point-n-click games have been on iOS with Telltale Games’ Monkey Island, Sam & Max, and Back to the Future, bringing Leisure Suit Larry to iOS & Android could continue to keep the ball rolling for remakes of classic point-n-click adventure titles. That could only mean we’ll hopefully be one step closer to games like King’s Quest being played from the comfort of our mobile devices.

Indoor Surf Board Works Your Balance, Leg Strength and Core

By Alexander Davies

From http://dsc.discovery.com/

More than 30 years ago, surfer Hunter Joslin was looking for a way to practice his skills while not on the waves. He came across an old balance board, and found it worked his balance and demanded leg and core strength. He improved on the design, and today, the Indo Board can be found in gyms all over the country.

While great for surfers, the Indo Board’s benefits can be enjoyed by all athletes, or by those just looking for a good workout. It comes in two main varieties; the board sits either on a roller or on an easier to balance, air-filled cushion.

As you can see in the video below, there are a lot of drills you can try, and only your imagination limits you:

If you want to try it out before committing the $100 to $200 for an Indo Board of your own, check your local gym- many offer classes.

Scientists '95% Sure' Bigfoot Lives in Russian Tundra

Scientists and yeti enthusiasts believe there may finally be solid evidence that the apelike creature roams the vast Siberian tundra, reports the Guardian.

A team of a dozen-plus experts from as far afield as Canada and Sweden have proclaimed themselves 95% certain of the mythical animal's existence after a daylong conference in the town of Tashtagol in the Kemerovo region, some 2,000 miles east of Moscow. In recent years, locals there have reported sightings of the yeti, also known as the abominable snowman.

The Kemerovo government announced on Oct. 10 that a two-day expedition the previous weekend to the region's Azassky cave and Karatag peak "collected irrefutable evidence" of yetis' existence on the wintry plateau.

"Conference participants came to the conclusion that the artifacts found give 95% evidence of the habitation of the 'snow man' on Kemerovo region territory," read a statement. "In one of the detected tracks, Russian scientist Anatoly Fokin noted several hairs that might belong to the yeti," it added. The group also discovered footprints, a presumed bed and various other markers.

The scientific community has historically disputed the existence of the yeti given scant conclusive evidence. But numerous sightings of such creatures have been reported in Himalayan countries and in North America, where it is known as Sasquatch, or bigfoot.
