R2D2 Upgrades to HDMI and Xbox 360

By
From http://walyou.com/

Major League Mods has just unleashed every Star Wars geek’s wet dream, for lack of a better description.

A life-size model of R2D2 bears a striking resemblance to the projector/dvd-player/sound system made by Nikko, as seen here. The difference is that Major League Mods appears to have spliced the internals of an Xbox 360 of all things, with a similar product. That’s right; you can now play Star Wars Battlefront III with R2 projecting on your wall.

R2D2 R2D2 Upgrades to HDMI and Xbox 360

It’s hard to believe, but no 360 ports appear to have been sacrificed in this George Lucas/Microsoft-effigy. The HDMI and RCA ports are in back along with power input, two USBs up front with the power button, and, of course, R2’s glowing eye is right where is should be.

R2 also lights up, but does not appear to move on its own. We’re not exactly sure if it makes sounds, but the well-known high-pitched chirps are definitely evident in the video. Check it out yourself below.

While we cannot confirm or deny the validity of this Mod, the splash screen of Xbox 360’s menu does appear on the wall in this video, and the ports do appear to be that of the Xbox as well. If you’d like to learn more, we suggest you contact Mark Bongo, the owner of Major League Mods and custom-modification guru who brought this gamer droid to life. You can also check out his Free eBooks to learn how to do this mod yourself. May the force be with you.

In love with the little bleeping R2D2? Bleep your way to a R2D2 specs poster or a cool R2D2 steampunk project.

Transformers All Spark Cube Xbox 360 Mod is Out of This World!

By Eran Abramson on January 21st, 2010

xbox 360 transformers mod
This is one of the most amazing Xbox 360 mods I have ever seen, and it makes me wonder why no one thought of modding an Xbox inside a Transformers All Spark before. I don’t know about any of you, but this combo simply makes sense…connecting two powerful Geek worlds together.

There are many Transformers fans and probably just as many (if not way more) Xbox 360 gamers out there, so this new Xbox 360 Mod bringing the two worlds together is definitely something they could literally go crazy about!

As every Transformers fan is familiar with the All Spark Cube, so has every Xbox gamer seen some crazy and amazing Xbox 360 modification. In this latest mod, GivenTats created an Xbox that is encased inside the All Spark Cube (to a larger size of course).

The details of the All Spark Cube are amazing as the Transformers Hieroglyphics and language (hand-etched) are maintained on the cube for all to see. Moreover, the Decepticons logo is also added for the evil feature, and perhaps to remind Geeks that although it looks cool, the cube is rather evil.

As in performance, it is just like any Xbox 360 you are familiar with, but the CD comes out of a special compartment from within the Transformers PC.

Handicapped PS3 Owner Builds Frankenstein's Controller

What would it take to stop you from gaming? If you said being bedridden, hooked up to various machines with limited use of your limbs, then you are a complete wuss. Just ask PlayStation 3 forum poster KitsuneYume, who built a PS3 controller he works with his entire body, including his mouth. While the setup won't win any product design awards, it allows Kitsune there access to 20 out of 25 possible controller functions using 16 switches and a joystick he controls with his tongue, all wired into a standard PS3 controller.

The main reason I put this on the PlayStation website was to show people that even the most limited person can still enjoy console gaming just as much... anyone else. the controller was pretty easy to make except for converting the analog signals into digital signals for when I use the various switches. this took about two months to build and get working effectively.

So how does it play? Good enough to keep Kitsune gaming, and that's all that really matters, isn't it?

It works just as good as any other. it was actually made with a PlayStation controller circuit board inside the box. it is just as responsive when I use my tongue, but if I use a switch for a direction of one of the joysticks it's like pushing it all the way one direction. I was able to beat the demo of mirrors edge, heavenly sword, eternal sonata and just about every other demo on the PlayStation network. the only games I have difficulty with are football games.... because I don't have very good strategy when it comes to sports games lol but I am practicing so I can play some of my friends who are really into football:-)

Now if that doesn't show what a powerful force of inspiration gaming can be, I don't know what will. Hit up the link to the forum thread below for more pictures.

My custom one of a kind PS3 controller,I can game again! [PlayStation Forums - Thanks Saad!]
