$3 million luxury camper is a 40′ mobile mansion

Austrian company Marchi Mobile announces luxury mobile home Elemment Palazzo

The Chevy Corvette car and speedboat hybrid might be the slickest amphibious vehicle on the planet, but when it comes to campers, nothing compares to the luxury the Elemment Palazzo offers. The mere mention of campers and RVs invokes images of cramped living quarters that can house only your essentials. But the Elemment Palazzo with its lavish fixture and ornate designs obliterates that notion completely. As it should, what with a coronary-inducing price tag of $3 million.

Austrian company Marchi Mobile designed Palazzo as part of its Elemment line of luxury vehicles that very visibly displays the trappings of wealth. You'll see in Palazzo what you never thought you'd see inside an RV. Master bedroom with an adjoining bathroom? Check. Leather interior? Check. Rainfall shower, fireplace, and 40" TVs? Check, check, check.

High-class bar area

Impressive enough as it is, it doesn't end there — the 40' long Palazzo also has a pop-out bar replete with a skylight and underfloor heating that you can activate by pushing a single button. The bar adds 80% more room to the camper's original 430 square feet floor space. When it comes to the exterior side of things, you may or may not be glad to know (depending on how you feel about it) that the Palazzo is covered in glow-in-the-dark paint.

Luxurious sleeping quarters

The 20-ton Palazzo can reach speeds of 93 mph, and uses 20% less fuel than vehicles of comparable size due to its aerodynamic design. The designers at Marchi Mobile say Palazzo is completely customizable, and if you have more money to spare, they'd welcome any outrageous modifications, going as far as to cover it in diamonds.

Got a Long Layover at Amsterdam Airport? Hop on a Floating Canal Bus. Yes, Really.

Where: Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Of all the airports in the world, there are a select handful that really stick out for their unique, traveler-friendly amenities. JFK's Terminal 5 comes to mind for its restaurants and Singapore's Changi for its giant flume slides and more, but over the past year, Amsterdam-Schiphol has been blowing travelers away.

AMS now not only offers a library, new technology down at baggage claim and an entire alfresco picnic park, but they've also introduced a link-up for flyers on layover to take a floating bus tour of Amsterdam's canals.

Yes, really. A floating bus.

Now for some fine print: you've got be on a layover of at least four hours, and prepare to spend some 45 minutes of the 2.5-hour tour out on the water in something that floats but totally looks like it shouldn't. Prices are 39 Euro per adult or 19.50 per child.

Now just one question. What were they smoking when they came up with this (brilliant) idea?!

World's First Amphibious Ice Cream Truck Spotted In London! (VIDEO)

by Don Hatfield

from http://geek-news.mtv.com/

It’s not everyday you see an amphibious ice cream truck, but that’s exactly what we’re looking at.  This water-logged treat machine was spotted cruising through the rivers of London on June 1st in celebration of National Ice Cream Week.

Delivering ice-cold summer treats to beach goers and everyone else enjoying the outdoors this summer isn’t this truck’s only mission. According to DailyMail, the truck delivers ice cream by land and sea to raise awareness of the UK’s troubled ice cream truck business. Due to increasing restrictions ice cream trucks are banned from some public places and have seen quite a decline because of it.

The ice cream truck was commissioned by Cadbury and while it may only be floating around London for the time being, there are plans for a national tour. In fact, The HMS Flake 99 may even make its way through the rivers of Venice. Check out the video below if you want to see this one-of-a-kind ice cream truck in action.

Humans could regrow body parts like some amphibians

Regrowing amputated limbs, broken backs and even damaged brains could one day be a reality after scientists discovered a gene that is key to the almost magical ability.

Researchers have found that the gene p21 appears to block the healing power still enjoyed by some creatures including amphibians but lost through evolution to all other animals.

By turning off p21, the process can be miraculously switched back on.

Academics from The Wistar Institute in Philadelphia found that mice lacking the p21 gene gain the ability to regenerate lost or damaged tissue.

Unlike typical mammals, which heal wounds by forming a scar, these mice begin by forming a blastema, a structure associated with rapid cell growth.

According to the Wistar researchers, the loss of p21 causes the cells of these mice to behave more like regenerating embryonic stem cells rather than adult mammalian cells. This means they act as if they creating rather thane mending the body.

Their findings, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, provide solid evidence to link tissue regeneration to the control of cell division.

They turned off the gene in mice which had damaged ears and they regrew them. While they say it is early days, there is nothing theoretically different about applying the same process to humans.

Professor Ellen Heber-Katz, the lead scientist, said: "Much like a newt that has lost a limb, these mice will replace missing or damaged tissue with healthy tissue that lacks any sign of scarring.

"While we are just beginning to understand the repercussions of these findings, perhaps, one day we'll be able to accelerate healing in humans by temporarily inactivating the p21 gene.

"In normal cells, p21 acts like a brake to block cell cycle progression in the event of DNA damage, preventing the cells from dividing and potentially becoming cancerous.

"We propose that any future therapy would involve turning off p21 transiently during the healing process and only locally at the wound site. This might be done through locally applied drugs. This should minimise any side effects."

They can expand and contract their chests at will to glide great distances. We were only able to catch females as they were laying their eggs. All we could do is watch as the males soared overhead."

As far as I can tell, nobody has identified the exact species of this lizard (yet). Biology geeks who recognize this specimen, please let us know what it is in the comments of this post.
