"Iron Man 2" is less than two and a half weeks away! The premiere is in Los Angeles next week! Woo-hoo!
Here's the new (really cool) poster for the Imax release, first seen on SuperHeroHype.
Wipe away the tears of "Avatar" not winning an Oscar and get ready for a jolt: The new "Iron Man 2" trailer just came online.
More is the operative word here. More of the grand prix scene, more of Whiplash, more of Sam Rockwell, more of War Machine. Key line: "I want to make Iron Man look like an antique."
And here's the slightly clearer YouTube version ...
Iron Man 2 is well on its way, and if the first film was any indication of the amazing cars in Tony Stark’s collection, we expect a strong showing for the sequel. Aside from the Audi R8 convertible we spotted Robert Downey Jr driving last summer, we know that at least one scene will involve Stark’s own F1-style car racing on the streets of Monaco before being cut in half by Whiplash (Mickey Rourke).
Iron Man proved to be a venerable gold mine of high-end computer graphics and hot cars, and it looks as if Iron Man 2 will not stray far from the original in those regards. MSN France recently ran a preview clip that shows Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) driving an F1-style racecar on the Circuit de Monaco when Whiplash shows up and slices the racecar in half.
Later in the scene a Rolls RoycePhantom is shown being dragged across the track – no doubt a victim to Whiplash’s violent rampage. You can also expect an Audi R8 V10 Spyder to make an appearance – although not in the scenes revealed today.
When Tony Stark jumps out of an airplane in the cool new trailer for 'Iron Man 2' he did it to the grind of AC/DC's 1980 anthem "Shoot to Thrill."
Now, Marvel Studios and Columbia Records have announced plans to release the CD compilation AC/DC: IRON MAN 2 on April 19, 2010. It'll hold 15 classic AC/DC tracks, some of which will be featured in the film. The play list includes "Shoot to Thrill", "Back in Black", "Thunderstruck", "Highway to Hell" and (appropriately enough) "War Machine".
Pre-orders begin today, January 26th at Walmart.com for the AC/DC: Iron Man 2 CD and at Amazon.com for a deluxe version of AC/DC: Iron Man 2 – CD+DVD and two LP vinyl packages.
The debut video from AC/DC: Iron Man 2 is the AC/DC’s classic album cut "Shoot To Thrill," which was filmed live last month in Buenos Aires during the band’s highly acclaimed Black Ice World Tour, the second highest grossing world tour of 2009 according to concert industry trade publication Pollstar. The video also incorporates exclusive footage from “IRON MAN 2” and debuts today worldwide. Check ACDC.com and marvel.com for more information. “Shoot To Thrill” was originally recorded for the band’s 50-million selling album Back In Black, one of the best selling albums of all time.
"Jon Favreau’s vision and passion for AC/DC’s music blend seamlessly into this incredible film" said Steve Barnett, co-chairman of Columbia Records. "The music really underscores the high energy and excitement of the film."
"Music is an integral part of the Tony Stark and Iron Man experience, and we are pleased that Columbia and AC/DC are taking part in the franchise’s phenomenon. Through this relationship, the band is delivering fans supercharged Iron Man branded music through all our combined consumer touch points, from the movie to retail outlets and even virally with the debut of the new video,” said Tim Connors, Chief Operating Officer, Marvel Studios.
In the sequel, Mickey Rourke plays Whiplash while Sam Rockwell is Justin Hammer, a multi-billionaire businessman and a rival of industrialist Tony Stark. Iron Man 2 will also give more focus to War Machine, the alter ego of Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes (Don Cheadle).
Paramount revealed a new one-sheet for "Iron Man 2," this one all about Mickey Rourke as Whiplash. With the dark hues and the glowing chest and whips, the poster continues the overcast mood of the campaign with the only light coming from charged armor.
The whips kind of remind me of bendable lightsabres. They look pretty cool.
Were you lucky enough to snag a peek at IRON MAN 2 during Comic Con this year? Me neither, which is why I’m pretty pumped that the footage has (at long last) leaked onto the internet for public consumption. No, the quality isn’t phenomenal as it’s a bit hard to hear at times, but it could be worse and it is well worth watching.
The five-minute clip runs through a number of scenes, including a meeting between Stark and Fury, a congressional hearing questioning Stark’s possession of the suit and an action montage where we get our first looks at Whiplash, Black Widow and even War Machine in motion.
Impressions? It looks pretty awesome to me. RDJ is in typical wisecracking form, and tone of the sequel seems like it's thankfully going to mimic that of the first. No need to go “dark” here. I’m still not sold on Whiplash (the suit, even with electric whips swinging is pretty awkward), but War Machine looks incredible. Your thoughts?
- Scarlett Johansson has joined the cast of "Iron Man 2", joining Robert Downy, Don Cheadle and Mickey Rourke. Scarlett will play Black Widow, a Russian with long red hair, huge breasts and pouty lips. Iron Man wants to find this woman, as do I. (source = imdb)
