Hamster Powered Machines

By DeliveryBoy

With all the hype about renewable energy and ‘green’ energy, people are constantly trying to find cheap and efficient sources of alternate electricity. There have been incredible innovations recently - ocean wave, geothermal, wind… But what about pure, raw hamster energy?

If you’ve ever owned a hamster or similar rodent, you would know how much energy it took you to get her back in the cage after a daring escape attempt, or the slightly eerie squeaks of the hamster wheel late into the night. These guys have so much energy loaded in their little bodies, it makes the Energizer Bunny look comatose.

Whether you’re a hamster friend or not, just imagine the potential - small appliances, houses, buildings, entire cities… Well maybe not entire cities, but here are a few of the latest developments in Hamster Technology:

Hamster Powered Night Light

Are you in love with hamsters but afraid of the dark? Never fear, the hamster powered night light is here! The hamster pictured here could generate enough electricity to power 6 LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) - that’s almost enough light to read by! The applications are endless: Christmas tree lights, electronic billboards in Times Square, and most importantly blinged out hamster cages!

The alternator…

The LED…

The finished product, complete with hamster.

Hamster Powered Cell Phone Charger

Don’t think we didn’t see your Pooh phone there.

Save money and give your hamster a purpose by letting him power your calls and text messages.

It’s not much of a leap to be able to charge other devices (PDAs, Bluetooth, etc.); unfortunately, for each type of connection you’ll be forced by the manufacturers to buy another hamster!

Hamster Powered Paper Shredder

Paper shredder - NOT hamster shredder…

What better way to protect yourself from identity theft than by shredding your sensitive documents and then using it as bedding for your hamster, all at the same time?

This gadget only shreds about one page per night, so if you’re a lawyer or someone with lots of secrets, consider buying a more heavy duty paper shredder…or more hamsters.

Hamster Powered Vacuum Cleaner

Ok, ok, I know this one’s a stretch - the hamster isn’t actually powering the vacuum cleaner, he’s just moving it with a hamster ball. You have to admit though, it’s pretty nice to have your hamster cleaning up your mess for a change!

Who needs a Roomba when you have a Rodent?
