FBI's Child ID app helps iPhone users find their missing children

The FBI has just released its very first mobile app, aimed at helping parents deal with their worst nightmare -- a missing child. Known as Child ID, the application allows users to store their kid's photos and identifying information directly on their handsets, making it easier to provide authorities with vital data whenever the little one disappears. Parents can also use the tool to dial 911 or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with the tap of a button, and can instantly e-mail their child's details to law enforcement officials, thanks to a dedicated tab. Of course, some may feel uncomfortable with keeping such personal information stored on a smartphone, but the Bureau insists that none of the data will be collected or shared without authorization -- and they're pretty good at keeping secrets. For now, Child ID is available only for iPhone, though the FBI plans to expand it to other mobile devices in the near future. Interested iOS users can download it for themselves, at the iTunes link below.

Five-year-old's 911 call saves dad's life (Audio only)

Hancock County - It took a five-year-old girl to save her father's life. She talked to 911 dispatchers when she thought her father was having a heart attack.

About 9:30 Monday night, Hancock county dispatcher Jason Bonham got a call. At first, he couldn't understand the person who was on the line.

A man was in distress and unable to speak.

"You could hear the father hear a little bit where he said tell 'em or take it," said Bonham.

That's when Savannah, the man's five-year-old daughter, picked up the phone.

"My dad can't hardly breathe," she told Bonham.

The call to 911 came from a cell phone, so dispatchers didn't automatically have an address.

With her father's help, the little voice clearly repeated their street address, and with time of the essence, gave dispatchers all the information they needed.

"Is your Daddy still awake?"

"Yeah."

"Most people when you talk to them, they're hysterical," said Bonham.

Her calm was not nearly as surprising as her tender age.

"How old are you?"

"I'm five years old."

"Every time I've listened to it it's amazing. She's just a little person," said Bonham.

For nearly ten minutes she stayed on the line, handling a scary situation with courage and grace.

"He looks like he's real shaky," Savannah said.

"You're doing a good job, all right, Savannah? They should be there in a few minutes."

"How many minutes?"

"Okay, you have to stay awake they'll be here in a couple minutes."

"It's okay, Dad."

"We were able to get 'em there versus four to five minutes delay of trying to get an address and another delay of getting them there," said Bonham.

Savannah is now credited for saving her father's life.

The girl's father was back at work Wednesday as doctors try to figure out what happened.

Don't Dial 911 if Burger King Runs Out of Lemonade (w/AUDIO)

Florida patron dials cops over lemonade-less combo meal

FEBRUARY 9--"You cannot dial 911 'cause you're unhappy with your burger." That's what a police operator told a Florida man early Saturday morning when he called 911 to complain about his order at a Burger King in Boynton Beach. As can be heard on the below police recording, Jean Fortune, 66, called 911 when a Burger King employee told him that they did not have lemonade. Fortune told cops that he had placed an order for a #7 combo meal (chicken fries, French fries, and a soda for $4.49) while in the drive-thru line. But when he got to the window, Fortune was told the fast food outlet did not have lemonade. He was offered Coke, but Fortune decided instead to call police. "Sir, come on. I know you don't seriously think that the police need to make Burger King give you food faster. I cannot believe that," said an exasperated 911 operator. She also noted, "Customer service is not a reason to call 911. 911 is if you're dying. Do you understand that?" Fortune was charged with abuse of 911 communications, according the below Boynton Beach Police Department report. Pictured above is the Burger King at which Fortune did not find lemonade. (1 page)
