Accept Your Mission and Watch the First Trailer for Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol
From: http://www.movieline.com/
“The president has initiated Ghost Protocol,” intones an über-serious Tom Wilkinson at the start of the trailer for Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol. “The entire IMF has been disavowed.” Yikes! What happens now, super agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise)? “So, what happens now?” Yes — just asked that question. Stop being difficult and just cue up some Eminem — the first trailer for the fourth Mission: Impossible film is live and online.
Directed by Brad Bird, and starring Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Josh Holloway (early guess: bad guy), Paula Patton, Lea Seydoux, Michael Nyqvist, and a gun-toting Simon Pegg, the trailer for Ghost Protocol promises pretty much exactly what you’ve come to expect from the Mission: Impossible series: double crosses, disavowed agents, skyscraper shenanigans, sexy cars, sexier women, explosions, and Tom Cruise running away from something. Also, Tom Cruise dodging massive wrecked machinery — in this case, a wrecked car. Fingers crossed Bird has as much fun in his live-action feature directorial debut as J.J. Abrams did with Mission: Impossible III, still one of the more under-rated summer blockbusters to come out in recent years.
VERDICT: Accepted.

Tom Cruise Hangs From Tallest Building in Dubai
By Krystal Clark
From http://screencrave.com/
Tom Cruise is turning into an adrenaline junkie. It’s no secret that he likes to perform his own stunts in movies, whether they include fight choreography, motorcycle riding, or car chases. He’s currently in Dubai filming the latest installment of his Mission Impossible franchise entitled Ghost Protocol and he’s hanging off the tallest building around — literally.
On Saturday afternoon, Cruise was photographed dangling from the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. Why wasn’t a stunt double used for this? Because that’s not Cruise’s style. He has to be giving the executives over at Paramount heart problems after pulling a move like this.
The Burj Khalifa is just one of the locations used for a fast-paced action sequence featured in Ghost Protocol. Cruise loves doing his own stunts. He’s stated in the past, “I love having the camera right there in front of me, where you can see me holding a shot all the way through. I think it adds to the excitement for an audience. It’s something that is challenging to do and fun for me.”
Touche Tom. Touche.

It's Official: Tom Cruise Making Les Grossman Film

After stealing every scene he shot in 'Tropic Thunder' and then bringing the house down at Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards, Tom Cruise will be reprising his character Les Grossman for a full-length feature film, EW reports.
Paramount and MTV films announced this afternoon they are developing a movie based on Grossman. Cruise will star and produce alongside 'Tropic Thunder' co-star and director Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld of Red Hour Films. Michael Bacall has been tapped to write the screenplay.
Keeping with the comedic tone of the planned film, both Stiller and Paramount released statements regarding Grossman.
Stiller's said, "Les Grossman's life story is an inspiring tale of the human class struggle to achieve greatness against all odds. He has assured me he plans to quote 'F**king kill the s**t out of this movie and make Citizen f**king Kane look like a piece of crap home movie by the time we are done.' I am honored to be working with him."
Paramount Film Group president, Adam Goodman, also played along, saying, "Everything I learned in this business, I've learned from Les. I started out as his assistant, and from the first day he threw his desk at me when I got his lunch order wrong, I have loved him like a father."

JJ ABRAMS PRODUCING MISSION IMPOSSIBLE IV
J.J. Abrams wrote and directed Mission Impossible III, which was supposed to be a big deal at the time, but it only grossed a disappointing $134 mil domestically on a $150 mil budget (though it eventually made almost $400 mil worldwide). I always assumed that was because by the third film (after a second one directed by John Woo featuring a motorcycle joust fight - God that movie sucked), no one cared about the Mission Impossible franchise anymore. Nonetheless, word on the street is that Abrams is back as producer for a fourth movie. From TV Guide (via SpoilerTV):
“I am incredibly honored that Tom (Cruise) has invited me back as a producer on Mission Impossible 4. says Abrams. “Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing.”
That idea? Tom Cruise must travel back in time to find the source of all the lens flares. (Tom’s thinking alien spirits).

Minority Report Gesture UI Is Now Really Real: G-Speak
Un-frickin-believable: there've been a few pretenders, but it looks like this new G-Speak system is really the Minority Report UI made into science-faction. It even has gloves something akin to Tom Cruise's natty controllers from the film, and it lets you do the whole arms waving in the air, drag items between screens, object-oriented interface control.
Though you might not have Tom's trademark piercing stare while you're at it. And if you think, "holy crap, that really is like the film!" then here's the reason: maker Oblong Industrie—who dub G-Speak a "gesture-based interface with recombinant networking and real-world pixels"...wowsers—was partly founded by one of the film's science advisers. There's just one question, really: when can we have one? [Engadget via Gizmowatch]
