Glee's 'Vogue' Vs. Madonna's 'Vogue': A Comparison

The Sue Sylvester video remake of "Vogue" debuted after Glee last night and it was pretty flawless. We thought we'd put it side-by-side with the original to see how the two stack up.

The biggest difference seems to come at the end, but the Glee version is very faithful to the original with some simple alterations here and there. Jane Lynch does a great job as a stand in for Madge, even if her dance moves seem a little overly rehearsed. The vocal track is all Sue Motherfucking Sylvester, but the spirit is all Madonna. Caution: this video will definitely make you excited for next week's all-Madonna episode of Glee and may possibly turn you gay. Thanks to commenter Rina for the idea.

It's Madge-Ic! A New Album Has Us Tracking Madonna's Many Faces

Admit it: Somewhere along the line in your fashion-obsessed life, you spent a few hours Vogue-ing in the mirror and trying to decide if your hot-pink bustier and lace gloves were a bit "much" for afternoon band practice. But with Madonna's latest and greatest hits album Celebrations dropping into our ever-grateful lives today, we couldn't help but take a few hours to properly pay homage to the world's hottest 50-year-old...ever. Whether she's the laid-back earth mum or Marc's latest Vuitton goddess, Madonna's many forms continue to inspire us. Herein are our picks of Madge personas. Seriously, can this Kabbalah mom rock a leotard or what?


1. Girly-Grunge (1983-84)



It all started with fishnets, bracelets, big hair, and blue shadow. Back then, the emerging mistress of club-kid grunge floored us with her piled-on, lacey getups and giant bow headbands. From "Lucky Star" to Desperately Seeking Susan (those studded boots...damn!) this after-dark renegade look nearly feels fresh today.

2. The Material Girl (1985)



The first swing of the pendulum came when Madge ditched the scrappy-chic look for something way more Hollywood. Here, Madonna revealed her ultra glamorous side by sporting some satiny prom queen dresses and a super styled blonde coif. Talk about get rich quick!

3. More Blonde Ambition (1990-91)



"The Blonde Ambition" tour saw Madge putting her real-life fashion passions on stage. Costumes for this tour were designed by Jean Paul Gaultier and featured a variety of couture undergarments, including THAT cone bra.

4. Dick Tracy Glam (1990)



In 1990, Madonna starred in Dick Tracy alongside legendary lady's man Warren Beatty (remember he also made that cameo as her awkward real-life man-friend in Truth or Dare). In a case of life imitating art, Madonna was snapped in gender-bending man-tailored suits and alternatively feminine 1920s gowns. We love!

5. A Lot Erotic (1992)



Taking a cue from the corset, the Madonna of the early '90s became a bit more risqué. This was the era of role-play, leather, bondage, and the much talked-about release of Sex, a book she masterminded with photographer Steven Meisel.

6. Evita-Chic (1997)



Madge has definitely taken some scrapes for her acting, but no one can deny that she was nothing short of amazing in 1997's Evita. Who else could go from nipple tassels to 1940s chic in the blink of an eye?!

7. Gothic Earth Mother (1999-2000)



Following the birth of daughter Lourdes was a brief and well-noted flirtation with all things spiritual. The new mum combined henna hands, Indian saris, and gothic dresses, and, yes, the world followed suit.

8. American Cowgirl (2001-2001)



Sometimes you just can't question the queen, and if Madonna tells you it's cool to be a cowgirl then it probably is. Suddenly we found ourselves giving in to a desperate need for old Levi's, our boyfriend's Western shirt, and some sweet beat-up cowboy boots.

9. Leotard Mania (mid-2000s)



Now, if you had such a killer physique in your 40s after having two kids, you might want to prance around in a tiny piece of Lycra, too. It's actually amazing how many times a spangly one-piece has popped up in Madonna's wardrobe, but what we love most is how she always manages to combine elements from her favorite past looks. Or are they our favorite past looks?

10. Red Carpet Madge



Cut to now, and the hailing goddess of reinvention has certainly grown into her designer duds. Starring in a campaign for Louis Vuitton and sporting some serious Balmain in her newest clip, Madonna still has her finger directly on the fashion pulse.

Madonna Tour Breaks record: 'Sticky And Sweet' claims new milestone

Queen of Pop Madonna can claim a new milestone after 'Sticky And Sweet' was named the highest grossing tour by a solo artist ever.

Madonna is one of the biggest names in modern music. More than 25 years on from her first hit the singer is still causing controversy, selling records and packing in the crowds on the recent 'Sticky And Sweet' tour.

Following on from her latest album 'Hard Candy' the tour has travelled the world, crossing national boundaries and out-lasting the singer's marriage to Guy Ritchie. A flurry of dates last year saw Madonna's tour become the biggest of the year, before more shows were announced for 2009.

Now signed to entertainment giants LiveNation the singer's tour has entered the record books as the highest grossing by a solo artist ever. Finishing in Tel Aviv on Wednesday (September 2nd) the tour grossed a total of $408 million.

Along the way, Madonna has offended narrow minded people everywhere. As recently as last week some flippant comments about the rights of homosexuals and gypsies were met with fury by a Romanian audience.

Madonna is a long way from breaking the all time tour record though. BBC News reports that The Rolling Stones raked in an astonishing $558 million from their tour 'A Bigger Bang' which last a full eighteen months.

'Sticky And Sweet' by way of comparison took in less shows, lasting little more than a year. Totalling 85 dates Madonna played to more than 3.5 million fans in 32 countries. To claim the new record the singer simply shattered one she herself had set - with 2006's 'Confessions Tour'.

U2 to play Jackson Vienna tribute - reports

U2 are reported to be among the line-up for the Michael Jackson tribute show which will be staged in Vienna next month.

According to the Associated Press U2 will perform alongside Madonna, Lionel Richie and Whitney Houston at the event.

Event organisers have yet to confirm the line-up, stating only that members of the late performer's family will appear with "a high profile line-up of international stars".

Jackson's brother Jermaine said in a statement on the World Awards Media's web site that the concert was conceived as an annual event to keep alive not only Jackson's music, "but his spirit as well".

He added: "He loved castles. And we're going to have this huge celebration in front of a castle."

Vienna's Schoenbrunn Palace, will serve as the backdrop for what organisers have billed as a "global" farewell tribute to Michael Jackson next month.

On its website World Awards Media said: "For one incredible night Michael Jackson's unforgettable music will be brought to life again.

"Some of the world's leading artists will perform Michael's greatest hits live in Vienna in front of one of the most fascinating historical sites in Europe and celebrate the life of the 'King of Pop'."

The 85,000 tickets for the show are due to go on sale on 20 August.

Madonna’s Stage Collapses; One Person Dies

The Marseille fire department says a stage built for Madonna’s concert at the Stage Velodrome stadium collapsed on several workers on Thursday, killing one person and injuring at least six others. The popstar was set to perform in the French town on July 19 but the mayor confirmed the concert has been cancelled.

"I am devastated to have just received this tragic news," Madonna said in a statement. "My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news." She was in Udine, Italy, when the accident occured and was told as she finished her soundcheck on a different stage at the Stadio Friuli. The concerts are part of the European leg of her "Sticky & Sweet" tour.

The six survivors were taken to a nearby hospital and two of the them are seriously wounded. The cause of the collapse remains unclear and the area where the accident occurred is currently barricaded. Initial reports point to a crane failure which caused its contents to spill on to the stage. The roof was also said to have collapsed.

After weeks apart, an emotional Guy Ritchie was reunited with his sons Rocco and David at a London airport this morning.

The director's children were back on English soil after being whisked away to the US by Madonna, who is in the throes of her Sticky and Sweet tour.

But as Guy held his two boys close for the first time in weeks, his estranged wife tightened her grip from the other side of the Atlantic.

The Mail has learned that the 50-year-old has issued a list of demands that Ritchie must meet while the children are with him in London. It includes a ban on TV, non-organic food and clothes not sent by her.

Eight-year-old Rocco looked delighted to be back in his father's company and threw his arms around him after walking through the gates at Gatwick.

Guy also shared a hug with David, three, whom he adopted from Malawi in 2006, later hoisting him on his hip as they made their way through the terminal.

An onlooker says: 'Rocco shouted, "Dad!" in the loudest voice.'

The scene couldn't have been more different for Madonna, who was pictured leaving a LA Kabbalah meeting over the weekend looking tired and gaunt.

A custody arrangement for the children remains a sticking point for the estranged couple, who were married for almost eight years.

Last week Guy, 40, hired a top lawyer in his battle with the 50-year-old over where their children should live.

Stephen Cobb, QC, is regarded as the leading specialist in divorce cases in which the country of residence of the children is in dispute.

Madonna is understood to want leave the family's London base and move back to the U.S.

She also has a daughter, 12-year-old Lourdes, whose father, Carlos Leon, lives in New York.

The singer cannot take the children to live with her permanently in the US unless she either gets permission from Ritchie or an English court grants her leave.
