Bruno: Restricted Red-Band Trailer

The first trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen's new movie, Bruno, is finally here and, thankfully, it's red band. If there was any doubt that Cohen's next movie would be less offensive or hilarious than Borat, this trailer squashes it. As Bruno, an Austrian supermodel, Cohen goes from fashion show to fashion show, stopping off to talk with hicks along the way, and causing disasters as he goes.

How Sacha Baron Cohen Conned Ron Paul Into a Romantic Bedroom Interlude

burno.jpgMany have called Sacha Baron Cohen brave for some of the stunts he pulled in his upcoming gaystravaganza Bruno (including a same-sex kiss at a cage match that riled the audience of rednecks into a state of Coors-throwing fury), but to us, the gutsiest set piece Cohen engineered was roping failed presidential candidate Ron Paul into a bedroom for an uncomfortable, aborted seduction. Now, Paul is revealing all about the brief encounter that will have Cohen dogged by red-faced Paul supporters for the rest of his days.

Paul opened up about the escapade to conservative radio show host Curtis Sliwa (who, in a stunt worthy of Baron Cohen, once faked his own kidnapping in an attempt to win crime-fighting fame). “I was expecting an interview on Austrian economics,” explains Paul, who was ushered out of a “malfunctioning” studio by producers, then led into a back area that was set-dressed to look like a hotel bedroom. From there, clumsy come-ons, pants-droppings, and angry exits ensued, as detailed in the audio above. “Why in the world didn’t I sock this guy in the nose?” Paul groans, fearing the reaction of his zealous flock of fans. Don’t worry, Ron: if every Republican is going to have their gay sex sting taped for posterity, at least you’ve already gotten yours out of the way (and ameliorated by residuals).

Best Sacha Baron Cohen Moments

(March 30) - In its first bout with ratings czars - the MPAA - Sacha Baron Cohen's new comedy 'Bruno' has been granted an NC-17, in part due to scenes of graphic sex. We know by the time 'Bruno' hits theaters, it will be toned down enough to earn an R-rating, as NC-17 has long been considered the kiss of death for box office success. But we're not surprised the envelope-pushing comedian started out with - if you'll pardon the pun - a bang. We looked back at our ten favorite out-there moments by Sasha Baron Cohen's various personas. Wow. WARNING: These clips are R-rated and appropriate for mature audiences... with strong stomachs.

10. Bruno vs. Neo-Nazis: "Do you think there are any skinheads who aren't gay?"

9. Ali G interviews Posh and Becks: "Now Scary, is you comfy?"

8. Ali G interviews Noam Chomsky: "How many words does you know? What is some of them?"

7. Borat on 'Late Night With Conan o'Brien': "Very nice, you have a big head. Your family live near nuclear plant?"

6. Ali G on feminism: "Do you think there will be a woman prime minister?" "There has been." "When?"

5. Bruno gets a fashion designer to admit she wishes she could deport people without fashion sense, and another to admit that fashion exists to exclude poor people. Comedy gold.

4. Sasha Baron Cohen wins the Golden Globes: "I stared down and saw your two wrinkled golden globes..."

3. Bruno causes college kids on spring break to freak out, show their rear ends and confront their homophobia.

2. 'Throw the Jew Down the Well' - yes, Sasha Baron Cohen is definitely Jewish, and it's hilarious... no, scary... no, SCARLARIOUS how easy it is for him to get this cowboy bar to sing along.

1. 'Borat's Naked Fight' - Borat attacks his producer, Azamat Bagatov, for making a hand-party to pictures of Pamela Anderson. It's the most disgusting thing in the world. Also, funny.

Sacha Baron Cohen is Black Jesus

Yak Shamash ... as Borat

Yak Shamash ... as Borat

I NEVER thought SACHA BARON COHEN could make a more controversial film than BORAT.

But it sounds like he has in the movie dubbed by fans on t’internet as Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America For The Purpose Of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable In The Presence Of A Gay Foreigner In A Mesh T-Shirt.

The gay fashion correspondent from Austria, played by Sacha looks set to infuriate religious groups with one of the key characters a black model called Jesus who wears a loincloth and a crown of thorns.

Test audiences in the US have seen an early edit and the more religious members at the screenings failed to see the funny side.

That’s a sure-fire sign the film is a belter.

A source said: “Sacha has really gone for the shock tactics this time.

“The characters were created deliberately to wind certain sections of society up and Jesus is one of them.

“It won’t be the first time Sacha has landed himself in hot water. The water might be a little hotter this time round though. Religion isn’t always the best place to poke fun.”

MADONNA sparked outrage in 1989 by making the beast with two backs in the video for Like A Prayer with a bloke the church were convinced she intended as a black version of Christ.

Last month, I revealed Sacha was risking his friendship with Madge by poking fun at her adoption of Malawian nipper DAVID BANDA.

In the film, Bruno and his boyfriend follow in her footsteps by adopting an African orphan, also called David.

Last year Sacha was nicked in Milan for gatecrashing a fashion show for a scene in the film.

He also ruffled feather boas at Kansas Airport in the States by filming his camp antics in the main terminal.

Sacha has only just finished sweeping up the lawsuits from Borat after some of the unwitting stars of the film decided they were exploited.

But I reckon Bruno has the potential to cause the kind of controversy that will guarantee another box office smash.

So when Sacha checks his bank balance the only thing he will have to say is: “It’s niiiiice.”
