UFOs spotted over London?

A video of bright disc-shaped objects dashing through the blue skies over central London has been posted on YouTube.

The footage was filmed near the BBC Radio 1 building in Great Portland Street, and shows specks of white light flying at high altitude over the capital.

A larger object then emerges from behind a cloud before vanishing moments later.

The YouTube user who posted the clip online wrote: "Right – took over a week to get it ... but finally managed to get these critters on camera on a clear day, and even get a close-up.

"It seems to be attracting quite a crowd now when they appear. Can anyone explain what on earth these lights are please?"

A separate video posted by the same user, alymc01, is believed to have been shot from inside the offices of a visual effects company called The Mill. The firm creates special effects for the film industry.

David Gilmour performed with the legandary Reverend Al Green last night on BBC1's Friday Night with... Jonathan Ross. Also in the band, which was put together for one night only, was Jools Holland, his brother Christopher, Gilson Lavis on drums, Lisa Grahame and Phil Veacock taking on saxophone duties, Chris Storr on trumpet, and Barry Campbell, on bass.

Although the rendition of Let's Stay Together was an excellent one, perhaps Mr Gilmour should have used a guitar that was plugged in!! It was barely audible! But I guess it lends itself well to the style of the song. You can enjoy the song below.

Man climbs building with vacuum gloves

A man has climbed up a BBC building using a pair of vacuum gloves he built himself, in a stunt for a new BBC One science show.

Inventor Jem Stansfield, the presenter of Bang Goes The Theory, used an everyday vacuum cleaner to construct the kit.

He scaled the 40m (120ft) high BBC White City building in west London, watched by hundreds of people.

This stunt was carried out by trained professionals following strict safety procedures and should not be attempted or replicated.

Bang Goes The Theory starts on BBC One on Monday 27 July at 1930 BST
