James Bond's Greatest Travel Moments

The new 007 flick, Quantum of Solace, is set to open on November 14 with actor Daniel Craig once again playing a darker, cooler Bond than seen in the character's previous incarnations. But there's plenty that's familiar to Bond fans: an excellent car, cool gadgets, beautiful women, and of course, exotic travel. Bond has always been one of the all-time great globe-trotters: While everyone else was drooling over the Aston Martins and the Ursula Andresses, we travel addicts were making mental pictures of all those fabulous locations—and putting them on our go list. Remember the first time you saw those stunning cliffs jutting up out of Thailand's Phang Nga Bay? It was in 1974's The Man With the Golden Gun. Or the otherworldly monastery perched on a sheer Greek mountainside? For Your Eyes Only, 1981. Whether it was playing cards at a swank Bahamas casino in 1965's Thunderball or traipsing through the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul (From Russia With Love), Bond has always been a model for stylish jet-setters—never mind his enviable budget from Her Majesty's Secret Service. Creator Ian Fleming gave Bond a coat of arms with an insignia reading, "The World Is Not Enough," but we bet that Bond himself would disagree. Here are 19 amazing places where Bond made his mark.
