Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood" set to be an all-Australian affair

By Daniel Donahoo Email

Robin_hood_05_306x470 There has been ongoing debate about whether Russell Crowe would be the Sheriff of Nottingham of Robin himself in Ridley Scott's upcoming version of the classic tale, but it appears casting have taken a shine to the acting clan from Downunder.

Most reports are confirming now that Crowe will be Robin, and now Cate Blanchett is expected to play the role of Marion.

Many will question whether there is room for another interpretation of Robin Hood. But, let's consider who else could be cast in an all-Australian version of Robin Hood.

Here are our thoughts:

Robin Hood - Russell Crowe
Maid Marion - Cate Blanchett
Sheriff of Nottingham - Hugo Weaving
Guy of Gisbourne - Eric Bana
Will Scarlett - posthumously granted to Heath Ledger
Alan-a-Dale - Ben Lee (ok, officially a muso, but he has acted and it fits the part)
Little John - Bruce Spence (the gyro Captain in Mad Max 2: the road warrior)
Friar Tuck - Magda Szubanski (played in drag, Magda was the farmer's wife in Babe)
Much the Miller's Son - Guy Pearce
King Richard - Geoffry Rush (cameo, of course)
