Ford Blows up Balloons to Test Adaptive Cruise with Collision Warning

bilde2.jpg

The 2010 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS will have a new safety feature called Adaptive Cruise Control with Collision Warning with Brake Support. That's a long-winded way of saying that the feature will sound a warning and prepare the brakes if cruise is on and it senses that you're about to crash.

Maybe the Ford folks on the project were building up their collective lung capacity to blow up the balloon targets that are being used to demonstrate the technology at the company's Dearborn test track.

The car-shaped balloons are substitutes for real vehicles in the testing. Although at $10,000 a pop, they may be more expensive than a used Ford Five Hundred.
