It's even more news from the 3D front! Sony is joining the fray with its very first 3D-capable A/V receiver, the STR-DN1010 AV.
The STR-DN1010 is a 7.1-channel A/V receiver with 3D HDMI 1.4 passthrough to allow 3D content to run from a source, like a 3D-capable Blu-ray Disc player, to a display, like a 3D-capable HDTV. It's just a passthrough, but the HDMI 1.4 connection's bandwidth ensures that all the 3D image data can reach the display, unfettered.
Besides the passthrough, the STR-DN1010 also features Sony's S-AIR wireless technology, so it can wirelessly drive a second audio zone, and additional zones with additional transmitters. Beyond that, it's a fairly direct, full-featured receiver. 110 watts per channel, 1080p upscaling of analog video, and support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio codecs and x.v. color and Deep Color color spaces.
The receiver ships in June, and will be available for $500.
