What it is: The CS concept car first seen at the Shanghai show in 2007 will go into production as the four-door Gran Turismo, positioned just above the 7-series upon which it is based.
Why it’s important: This model will give BMW a competitor to the Mercedes CL-class and will be BMW’s new flagship.
Platform: Will be based on the upcoming 7-series but will feature a sportier chassis and extensive weight-saving tweaks, such as composite body panels and aluminum structural members.
Competition: Aston Martin Rapide, Maserati Quattroporte, Mercedes-Benz CL-class, Porsche Panamera.
Estimated arrival and cost: We’re expecting the production version to see the light of day in 20
