When the Boston Red Sox won the World Series in 2004, ending an 86-year title drought, there was a total lunar eclipse that turned the full moon red in the sky. In 2011, during the Largest Red Full Lunar Eclipse the Boston Bruins Won the STANLEY CUP!!!!!
Now before you get excited, we should point something out – these geese that we're about to show you "surfing" aren't actually, you know, on boards, standing up, feathers in the wind.
They're not even wearing wetsuits, for God's sake – it's like they've naturally adapted to float on the water. Crazy stuff.
In reality, these "surfing" geese are just casually floating into, onto and around heavy waves on the Colorado river, and for some weird reason it makes for compulsive viewing. Look at them geese, swirling around like it ain't no thing... internet, you never cease to amaze us.
No need to bother putting the NBA Championship trophy down. You’d think that when your’re worth $2.5 billion you could at least have someone hold it for you for just a sec. I guess if you’re Mark Cuban you can do whatever the hell you want. I know if I were in his shoes I’d be doing the same thing…but I’d buy some better shoes.
When you’ve just won the 2011 NBA Championship and got selected at the MVP, I guess it’s okay to chug from an $80,000 bottle of champagne. He’s got his boss, Mark Cuban to thank for that. Congratulations Dirk.
I think this just might be the greenest speaker for iPhones that we've come across yet. It's a piece of bamboo. And that's it. Just a piece of bamboo...but it works wonderfully.
The bamboo speaker is essentially a 1-foot length of bamboo with a slot carved out of the top for the iPhone to snuggle into. The sound reverberates through the pipe and amplifies the tunes you're listening to. And that's about all there is to this simple speaker -- and it seems to work quite well if you listen to the video:
We've also got to point out that bamboo is one of the most eco-friendly materials this item could use -- not only does it skip plastics and metals altogether, but it's one of the fastest-growing renewable wood sources.
You can back the project on Kickstarter and help the product become a reality, but you'll have to make a move fast. There's less than a month left in the fundraising effort and they have a long way to go to meet the $10,000 goal. Of course, you could also easily make this speaker yourself if you care to spend an hour or so cutting the slot in t he top of a length of bamboo.
Montel Williams: "Why are we treating patients who seek out this medication like they're some lesser member of society?"
Former talk show host Montel Williams lent his star power to the grand opening of a high-end medical marijuana dispensary in Sacramento, California, that aims to "set a new standard" for patients who choose to use cannabis.
Williams, a daytime TV host for 17 years, said he uses medical marijuana to relieve the pain of multiple sclerosis but has seen the need for more professional distribution of the herb, reports CBS Sacramento.
"You see people standing around, sticking their nose into things," Williams unfortunately said. "I don't go to CVS to pick up an individual Vicodin."
It's sad that Montel felt the need to say such a silly thing about medical marijuana consumers, since there isn't just one "medical marijuana" but many strains with various medicinal uses -- and, of course, as any experienced cannabis shopper knows, "sticking your nose" up to individual buds is one way of assessing exactly what you're dealing with.
Of course, if knowledgeable cannabis consumers are prevented from inspecting the marijuana they're about to buy at Montel's place, they'll just go down the street to the next dispensary.
But Montel's a smart guy -- my guess is he'll figure it out before he runs his customers off. And I'm guessing he'll also figure out that "high end" means having the most potent strains, not the highest prices. We'll see!
In any event, Montel's new dispensary, Abatin (I think "Montel's" would have been a much better name, but not nearly as French), is in a sleek location that, according to CBS Sacramento, "looks more like an office for a high end plastic surgeon," and Williams hopes that professional appearance will "help change perceptions" about medical marijuana patients.
"Why are we treating patients who seek out this medication like they're some lesser member of society?" Williams asked. "We could set a new standard, not just for Sacramento, not just for California, not just for the other 16 states that allow it now and the District of Columbia, but also for the world."
Williams said he chose Sacramento for the venture because of its history at the front of medical marijuana advocacy.
"Why not come to where the home of the movement began?" he said, undoubtedly raising a lot of questions up in San Francisco.
Williams is serving as a "consultant" for Abatin and said he hopes to open several similar dispensaries across the country.
Let's hope he at least lays off insulting medical marijuana shoppers if he plans to stay in the business.
In a story that just got more and more bizarre the deeper Cat Deeley and the folks behind 'So You Think You Can Dance' (Wed., 8PM ET on FOX) dug into it, a competing hopeful claimed to be the daughter of the "real" Ringo Starr.
Well, with a claim like that, we can't blame the show for sending a camera crew to her home town to meet the legend himself. Once there, we were introduced to an older gentleman with virtually no trace of a British accent who claims to be the original Ringo Starr.
He said he played on four albums and, according to his daughter, went into hiding "after John Lennon was shot three times in the back."
Their home was filled with 'Sgt. Pepper'-era memorabilia, and the man insisted he had a British birth certificate and passports. Could 'SYTYCD' have uncovered the story of the century? Well, no, but they've definitely uncovered one uniquely off-kilter personality.
In 2006, Zach Galifianakis and pal Fiona Apple teamed up to record a catchy, NSFW rap song titled "Come Over and Get It (Up in 'Dem Guts)". The track wasn't released until 2008 on a 7" vinyl to commemorate Chunklet magazine's 20th issue. We've never heard the song before, so we're guessing you haven't either. (But we're sure if you have heard it, you'll prove us wrong in the comment section below).
The song features Apple as 'Clarice', a woman seeking "some of that sweet love" from 'Alan Finger', a character Galifianakis played in the short-lived, documentary style sitcom Dog Bites Man that aired on Comedy Central.
We've been singing the catchy chorus all morning long. Now it's your turn:
Before Zach Galifianakis was a household name, he appeared in Fiona Apple's "Not About Love" music video in 2005. The unlikely duo met at Largo, after Apple had seen Galifianakis in Anita Baker's music video for "You Bring Me Joy", and liked the concept. Apple invited Galifianakis to record a similiar video, shot mostly in Galifianakis's home/bed/car, but never expected it to be released as the official music video.
In the music video for "Not About Love", Galifianakis and Apple walk around Venice, California, while Galifianakis lip-syncs Apple's song and Apple tries not to laugh. If you've forgotten about the snippets in the video where Galifianakis wears unflattering tight clothing while dancing in thigh-high water, we invite you to recall or visualize those scenes right now. [Or watch it here].
Galifianakis also appeared in the second version of Kayne West's "Can't Tell Me Nothing" video with indie rock musician Will Oldham. We feel it's safe to say Galifianakis is the most sought-after lip-syncer in the music industry, second only to *insert whichever pop singer you loathe the most this week*.
To say this is NSFW is an understatement; it might not be suitable for humanity. After all, once you’ve heard 429 swears in four minutes, does your brain just disintegrate into a pile of filth? Perhaps! See if you can make it through all the curses from Pulp Fiction strewn together in this latest Internet supercut, then stick around for more Buzz Break. Headphones!
Today we catch wind of a strange and hilarious potential development from the Ben & Jerry's camp, who may or may not be developing a new "Schweddy Balls"-themed flavor in honor of the enduring SNL skit starring Ana Gasteyer, Molly Shannon, and Alec Baldwin in a career-defining role as Pete "Schweddy Balls" Schweddy.
Gayster casually let this little bomb slip during an interview with New York 1: "It has this crazy, massive popularity that’s kind of had a half life since I left the show. Ben and Jerry's is coming out with a schweddy balls ice cream for Christmas this year.” Whoa! Bowery Boogie says the flavor will arrive sometime in September and run through Christmas, but a Ben & Jerry's rep we spoke to would neither confirm nor deny the move, explaining "we like all of our new flavors to have an element of surprise."
In any event, now is the perfect time to revisit this gem from the past:

In Partnership with SolarCity, They Want to Put Solar Panels on Your Roof
Google has just announced its biggest clean energy investment yet, a $280M fund to finance residential solar panel installations across the US. They are partnering with SolarCity (Tesla 's CEO Elon Musk is their chairman and an early investor), a "provider of solar energy system design, financing, installation and related services" (by leasing the panels from them, you can eliminate the big upfront cost yet still benefit form lower bills). This bring Google's total clean energy investments to an eye-popping $680M.

"In SolarCity's innovative financing model, the company covers installation and maintenance of the system over the life of the lease. You can prepay, or pay nothing upfront after which you make monthly solar lease payments."
Check out the video below for a bit more details:
Making Solar Cost-Effective in the Short-Term
What's so great about this is that it addresses the main barrier to entry when it comes to residential solar power: High upfront costs. Knowing that they'll save over the long-term isn't enough for most people if they have to pay tens of thousands of dollars right away, but if a deal is structured in such a way that the price of leasing solar equipment is lower than current power bills, almost all of the pain of going solar is eliminated. In short, it's a brilliant way to keep the benefits and remove the negatives.

SolarCity installs panel technologies ranging in high efficiency from Sanyo to lower efficiency, cost-efficient thin-film solar modules from First Solar as well as string ribbon from Evergreen Solar, Sharp, Yingli, Kyocera and Suntech Power, among others.
