Anyone looking for huge amounts of free chocolate should book a flight to Armenia's capital next month. That's when the world's largest chocolate bar will be up for grabs in Yerevan's main square. The Guinness Book of World Records certified the 9,702-pound (4,410-kilogram) chocolate bar at a ceremony Saturday.

It was made by Grand Candy factory and contains all natural ingredients, including 70 percent cocoa mass. The chocolate bar is 224 inches (560 centimeters) long, 110 inches (275 centimeters) wide and 10 inches (25 centimeters) thick.

The factory owner, Karen Vardanyan, said that the chocolate bar was produced to mark the 10th anniversary of the company. He said it will be divided up and handed out Oct. 16.

What happens when you leave a skateboard and a tank alone in a dimly lit room? (video)

You get all-terrain vehicle babies, is what. Ben Gulak, the youngster that brought us the Uno electric unicycle, is back with a new transportation device, this time aiming to woo military procurement types with a rugged and extremely versatile one-man transporter. The DTV (Dual Tracked Vehicle) Shredder has enough torque to tow an SUV, but is also flexible enough to turn within a circle of four feet and scale slopes as steep as 40 degrees. To be honest, though, nothing we say can do justice to just how badass this thing really is, you'll want to see the videos after the break for that. Our favorite part? The Shredder can be remotely operated and its makers even advertise its ability to carry offensive weaponry and serve as a "robot attack platform." What self-respecting supervillain wouldn't want an army of those?

FRAMEicariums: Living Ant Farm Art by Hugh Hayden & Katie Vitale Gallery

by Jill Fehrenbacher
from: http://www.inhabitots.com/

For those of us who live in big cities (i.e. most of the Inhabitots writers), nature can sometimes feel like a distant thing. Those of us grew up in rural/suburbia or who went camping frequently as children may have had plenty of experiences with ant colonies, but many kids living in cities today don't get this type of close encounter with nature anymore. If they do try to bring a messy pet or science project into their cramped city apartment, their parents aren't likely to be too thrilled. Happily, designers Hugh Hayden and Katie Vitale have attempted to solve this problem, by creating a wonderful series of ant farm artworks that merge a city parent's arty aesthetic with the nerdy science-fair goodness of an old-fashioned ant farm.

Those going down to Ground Zero for the 9/11 memorial services may notice just how much the area has changed in the last year.

To see how much work is done down there in just one day, an MSNBC.com photojournalist documented 24 hours of manpower on the site.

John Makely set up five cameras to illustrate the vast construction project.

His time-lapse video combines more than 10,000 separate images.

Die Antwoord $O$ album cover revealed

Die Antwoord - $O$

Many Boing Boing readers are familiar with the South African rap rave revolution known as Die Antwoord. A series of posts here earlier this year helped catapult them from relative obscurity to center stage, bright blinding lights and all. Xeni blogged about them after her friend, photographerClayton Cubitt, was hipped to them by a pal of his who assisted on a Capetown video shoot which resulted in this.

A month later, on their first trip to the US, Xeni and I had breakfast with Ninja— we talked about their crazy-fast rise to internet stardom, and he tipped us off that they were in the process of signing to Interscope. A few months after that, while I was at a friends birthday BBQ in Brooklyn, Ninja phoned me with a proposition. Xeni had told him about my previous life as a designer in the music industry, and they wanted someone who "got it" to help them design their upcoming album, $O$.

SOS-final.pngI accepted in a second, and we started brainstorming right then, on the phone. With some amazing photos Clayton shot as the base, we quickly arrived at a very clear vision of what the album would look like, including some costuming elements by another artist and friend, Gary Baseman, whom I'd introduced to the band after randomly bumping into him at Coachella and learning he was a fan as well. (full photoshoot credits here)

I spent the next month working on this while in Paris, and have been dying to show off the design ever since. Today, the band debuted it on their website with a countdown to October 12, 2010 as the US release date. Since the cat is out of the bag, I thought folks here would like to see it right away.

In addition to this just being a really cool story of fans and artists coming together, it's been super fun to work with such a collection of creative and inspiring people. Looking back on the photos from that first morning when I met them, it almost seems like destiny.

Global release dates coming soon, as well as a whole new host of tour dates. In the meantime I can tell you, I've heard the album—and it's amazing.
