Struggling North Shore Theatre Gets Some Help

BEVERLY (WBZ) ―

The North Shore Music Theater desperately needs money, to the tune of $4 million. The theater has been trying to raise funds. It got some help Wednesday night from a group of kids who learned to love the arts on NSMT's stage.

"The kids really wanted to help out raise money," said 18-year-old Stephanie Moskal. "We decided a night of singing would be the best thing to do."

More than 50 current and former students of NSMT's academy and summer stage programs volunteered to put on a cabaret performance. Nicholas Christopher, 18, is now a professional actor thanks to what he learned at NSMT.

"We've learned everything about acting about our art here," he said. "We've learned you can actually do this as a profession and it has helped us to get to where we are today."
About 200 people came to the performance, raising thousands of dollars for the cause. NSMT is grateful for the community support and hopeful one or two big donors will come through before their April deadline.

So too does 15-year-old Connor Doherty, who has grown up performing here. "It can't close, it's so important to everyone here."
